Homemade lip balm recipeslip balm recipes

There are a lot of people looking for lip balm recipes. I can see why being that most commercial lip balms contain petrolium products, which actually dehydrate your lips.

Before I give you a quick and easy lip balm recipe, I want to FIRST tell you how I make lip balm at home.

Honestly, I make lip balm the EXACT same way as I make my herbal salve, except I double the amount of bees wax. This makes it simple!

I make it this way so I can get the medicine from herbs in my lip balm. This makes for a far more healing, effective home made lip balm than the recipe that follows.

Here is a natural, lip balm recipe

  • 1 oz. Beeswax
  • 1 oz. Shea Butter or Mango Butter
  • 1 oz. Cocoa Butter or Deodorized Cocoa Butter
  • Essential Oil (approximately 10 drops or flavor to suit)
  • 1 oz. Sweet Almond Oil

Melt Beeswax, Cocoa Butter and Sweet Almond Oil in microwave on Defrost Power, using intervals of one minute to stir.  You can also use a saucepan on really low heat (using a double boiler is even better).

When completely melted, add essential oil of your choice (Try Peppermint, Spearmint or any citrus flavors) and Shea Butter or Mango Butter.  Combine thoroughly.  Carefully pour into tubes, jars or tins.  Allow to cool completely. Thanks to the Crafty Bubbles web site.

Makes 12 - 14 tubes.
